Are you a refugee or immigrant who celebrates Christmas? If so, please note that the Client Resources Calendar has been updated to include information for a free community dinner on Christmas day for individuals and families in need. This event is sponsored by the kind people at First Christian Church in Champaign. You must call to reserve your spot by December 20. See the calendar under "Recent News" for more details.
The Refugee Center will be closed Thursday and Friday (11/22-11/23) in observance of Thanksgiving. We will reopen Monday, 11/26. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Want to help spread the word about the Refugee Center? We now have our brochure and flyer available online. By posting the flyer and handing out the brochure, you can help ensure that the people who need our assistance find us!
This past Saturday was the last day of our fall health education program. To learn all about the program and our festive celebration, check out our blog!
Love children? The Refugee Center's Children's Program is in need of committed volunteers to tutor and supervise school aged children on Saturdays from 10-1! If you enjoy helping and interacting with children, this is the opportunity for you! Individuals who speak French or Vietnamese are especially needed, but it is not necessary. Please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form to get in touch!
ECIRMAC sends warm regards to Mung Nguyen. Mung was active on the ECIRMAC board for many years, and has now left to serve in the Peace Corps... this is especially inspiring given that Mung is in his late 80s! We are all proud of Mung for his compassionate life choices, and grateful for the time he served with our Center.
Our new website is up and running! Please feel free to check it out and give us feedback on how we can make it better!
