Mom did have one many years ago but it and all other personal documents were lost when rebels threw a grenade into their home. This grenade started a fire which burned down the house and destroyed everything.
ECRIMAC kicked around ideas of who could do affidavits attesting to the fact her daughter was, in fact, her daughter. The grandparents have died. The daughter was the oldest child so the girl’s siblings weren’t around at the time of the birth (she could attest on the siblings but they can’t help her). Dad could do one affidavit but immigration wants two. Because of the war, she has also lost track of her former neighbors who could have supplied an affidavit.
We decided to get dad to do one affidavit and write a letter to immigration explaining the problem and pray. The back up plan will be to save more money for a DNA test.
