Participants unanimously reported in our feedback survey that they learned a great deal, that they "would recommend the program to a friend," and that they planned to share the things they learned with their friends and family who could not be in the class. One participant expressed her gratitude for the program by saying, "I always looked forward to come on Saturday mornings." Another said, "[I enjoyed this program] because I'm looking for the healthy food for my family. Now I can cook the healthy food for my family, [and] I can see if in that food is many fat." When asked what their favorite part of the program was, many participants reported that "every part" was their favorite; but one wrote, "I was affected by [learning about] fast food because I eat that a lot. I don't have a time for to cook, I work hard." This statement was echoed by a fourth participant who said that she appreciated that the program relayed academically- and scientifically-rooted information, while making it easy to understand and applicable to their every day lives.
Starting in late January, we will have our second semester of health classes, this time focusing on our Hispanic, Spanish-speaking clients.
